Orange Spot Rabbitfish

  • Siganus Rabbitfish also known as Spinefoots are a favorite among hobbists.

  • They should be added to well established aquariums with plenty of room to swim.

  • Plenty of rock work should be provided for grazing, resting and hiding.

  • Siganus Rabbitfish are generally herbivores but if not fed well enough may pick at tunicates, sponge or even coral. A diet rich in algae based foods should be readily provided.

  • Care will need to be taken when handling Rabbitfish as they have venomous spines.

  • Siganus Rabbitfish are considered peaceful towards most fish except other Rabbitfish, consider adding only one per aquarium.

  • Siganus Rabbitifish have the unique ability to camouflage themselves while sleeping or when frightened.

  • Rabbitfish can grow to slightly more than 16".

We recommend a minimum aquarium size of 180 gallons or larger for this species.
